Motivated Reasoning
My primary program of research concerns motivated reasoning, or the process of interpreting and evaluating information in a way that coheres with prior beliefs. Specific projects include the role of expertise and self-awareness in this phenomenon.
Selective Exposure and Social Networks
I also study the formation of echo chambers in controlled experiments, where an individual selects certain social peers to engage with during communication about divisive topics.
